Kharkiv - date and time change

Message for U.S. Citizens: Consular visit to Kharkiv postponed until April 2, 2018

Event: A U.S. Consular officer will visit Kharkiv to provide routine consular services to U.S. citizens in Kharkiv and the surrounding areas on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Consular officer will be able to provide limited citizen services on-site.  These include notary services and acceptance of passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad applications. In addition to any required documents listed on our website, please make sure you have photocopies of all your originals and translations with you. If you need a passport for someone under the age of 16, please understand that in almost every circumstance both parents and the child must come in person to submit the application.  Please note that all of the fees must be paid in exact change in U.S. dollars only.

Note! Effective April 2, 2018, the passport execution fee will increase from $25 to $35.  The $10 execution fee increase applies to U.S. passport applicants using the DS-11 form including: first-time applicants over age 16, children under age 16, and applicants who reapply after reporting their previous passport lost or stolen.

Customers applying with the DS-11 form at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad pay two separate fees: an application fee to the U.S. Department of State and the execution fee to the Passport Acceptance Facility (such as a post office in the United States or a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad).  Accordingly, the total passport fee for such applicants will increase by $10 in total.

The $10 fee increase does not apply to adults eligible to renew their passport using the DS-82 form. The Department of State published a Final Rule confirming this fee change on January 31, 2018.
Location:  Premier Palace hotel lobby, Kharkiv, Ukraine.  Premier Palace hotel is located at 2 Nezalezhnosti Ave. in Kharkiv.

Actions to Take: All services will be provided by appointment only.  To make an appointment, please email your full name, passport number, date of birth and type of service you are requesting to kyivacs@state.gov or call us at +38-044-521-5566 before 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018.  You can get in touch with us using the same phone number and email address if you have any questions about any of the services that will be available.

WARDENS NEEDED !

For those of you who don't think the Embassy gives a sh-it about you:

Event: Kyiv's American Citizen Services unit is in the process of updating our network of Wardens to ensure that we are able to communicate as effectively as possible with U.S. citizens in the event of an emergency. We are looking for volunteers to serve as Wardens in various regions of Ukraine.

Note: If you had previously volunteered to be a Warden and we recently corresponded with you to update your contact details, you do not need to respond to this message.

?         Wardens are private U.S. citizens who help the Embassy help U.S. citizens in need.  They assist travelers in distress, help us track down missing U.S. citizens, and, in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency, help us locate other American citizens so we can help get them to safety.  Wardens are usually American citizens who are longer-term residents of Ukraine and, ideally, speak some Ukrainian or Russian. Please note that this is a voluntary position that does not involve financial reimbursement.

?         We need wardens in major areas like Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Crimea, Dnipro, Donetsk(?), Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Kropyvnytskyi, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Vinnytsya, Volyn, Zaporizhzhya, and Zhytomyr. Wardens in smaller cities and rural areas are also uniquely important because those can be the hardest places for us to reach in an emergency.

Actions to Take: If you would like to volunteer as a Warden, please do the following:
?         E-mail us at KyivACS@state.gov to express interest. Please tell us your citizenship, where you live, how long you have been in Ukraine, and what languages you speak.
?         Provide your full name, DOB and passport number.
?         We will then provide you with additional documents to read, complete, and return.

Volunteer?  ??? As in free labor??   ::)  Not even a tax break? Say 30-50% off?

Fawk NO.
In Russia we only had two TV channels. Channel One was propaganda. Channel Two consisted of a KGB officer telling you: Turn back at once to Channel One. Yakov Smirnoff
