Socialsing with kids
« on: 11:14 06-Aug-2017 »
Hi from the UK! We moved to Kyiv 6 months ago. So far so good.
The only curiosity is our daughter started speaking Ukrainian a little and now tells us to do the same and gets cross when we don't:)
Are there any expats with kids of a similar age (she's 4) to keep her English usage up? She socialises with native kids in a private kindergarten a lot, it would be great if she made friends with kids from other countries. (UK/USA/Oz - doesn't matter)
Not sure where to post the question.

Thank you!

Claire

Welcome.

This is more an introduction and a question in the one post.

You said earlier that your wee girl attends a mini-kindergarten where both English and Ukrainian are spoken. That said, it is understandable that Ukrainian will be the majority spoken language.

Suggest Q&A for the post as most members will read that topic.

When her age is right, why not help her have an internet pen pal on Skype (supervised of course).  Maybe a great way to meet other little kids from other countries.

People can have a social life after they have children?

Once they move out and have bled you dry, then, yeah. You can run around the house and fry bacon naked if you desire then!

Remember, if frying, keep the heat low. OK, it may take an extra 5 to 10 minutes but you won't have to suffer splattering of hot salo/bacon fat over your naked body.

Good advice! Thanks!  Now, if only the kids would group and GTFO.

You can always order an apron to protect the delicate parts for when the kids actually GTFO.

A bit off topic but I can recommend Gergel School if you are looking to languages... its a language only school where kids learn Eng, Fr, German... twice per week....all  very social - non pressured - no tests....but remarkably many kids go on to better things... its a great foundation in languages.
