Best Way to Ship Parcel to Germany?
« on: 02:35 29-Aug-2019 »
Hi!  I need to send some hiking shoes to repair in Germany.  Weight is about 3 kg.  What is the best way to do this?  Delivery speed does not matter, but I need to be certain that it actually reaches Germany.  And I also want to have insurance so that I get a predefined amount of money if it should actually be lost.  Thanks!

You don't have a shoe repair shop in your town?

For the cost of shipping to and from Germany you could get them repaired in a few days and have enough for a shaurma.

Agreed. Ukraine has many small specialist shoe repair services, so good, you will not know the difference between a local repair and that of the manufacturer.

Thank you.  Unfortunately I cannot repair them here since these are top-spec mountaineering boots which have a special Vibram sole which the corner shoe repair shop simply does not have.  And putting something else on them will just so much reduce their usefulness.  So shipping unfortunately I must.

First world problems are not easy to solve in Ukraine.

You could try this. Plenty of reviews. Looks like they are the agent and therefore have access to multiple courier delivery outfits.

Thank you.  Do you have any personal experience with ParcelABC?  In the internet, they have a huge amount of negative reviews.

The best thing I found so far is something called

www.postexservice.com

But maybe they are just too small to also have negative reviews in the internet :)

No, sorry, not recently. However, our package arrived safely.

All other deliveries we make were via insured post without problems.

Cannot get your link to work - errors with "Error establishing a database connection" Perhaps one needs to be located in Ukraine.

So how about sending it with the Ukrainian Post Office?  If I insure it, then I guess it does not really matter if they lose it.  Anybody any experience, please?

I had used Nova Poshta in the past but had to have a translator to send.
Picking up parcels can be done by someone with no language ability.

Those parcels were only sent around in Ukraine so I don't know about international.
Overall Nova Poshta is very good I thought and a great value.
I realized at one point that if I was going to move across the country like from Kiev to Khakiv that shipping basic stuff like clothes and what have you that it would have been efficient to use Nova Poshta versus traditional methods.

Also when I was moving around Kiev the boxes they sell are inexpensive compared to US prices.

Yes, Nova Poshta is strictly inside UA.

I do believe UPS, FedEx and DHL all have a UA presence as well as in Germany.

I checked DHL and it is about 200 USD.  So this is a little too much for my shoes )

That is why I am now thinking about the Ukrainian government post office (not Nova Poshta, but the government post office).  It does not need to be fast

A quick check of Nova Posta shows that it DOES international post, packages and parcels.

UKRPOSHTA - ІNTERNATIONAL POSTAGE

They say :  Send your international postal items through Ukrposhta and they will be delivered by air or by surface to more than 230 countries and territories of the world.

There's a UkrPoshta on every corner! In fact, there's one downstairs in our apartment building!

I think the old 8th Air Force in Poltava had some experience delivering packages to Germany from Ukraine....
