Thomas Jefferson in the eyes of the British government = Terrorist
Thomas Jefferson in the eyes of a colonist = Hero and Freedom Fighter

Try to deny that fact and you are just a hypocrite haha.

I was going to suggest you try telling that to the native indians but then I read on ......

However, I am a student of history and no one ever seems to recall the greatest terrorist attack in American History (the attempted genocide and all but successful extinction of the Native American People, yet no one ever talks about them really ever, I guess Native American's are second rate human beings that deserved the first fully documented and accepted biological warfare attacks (Smallpox blankets given to them as gifts in the winter).

I guess in America there are not more and more museums and memorials for Natives because in order to do so we would have to freely and openly not only admit but embrace that as Americans our ancestors brutally raped, murdered and maimed Indian men, women and children without remorse. Yuck!!! Turn on sponge bob kids and get ready for bed, we are going to Disneyland tomorrow that is a lot happier than thinking about them darn Indians!!

So true and so sad.

The best way to avoid being considered a terrorist...

Have hair, be an atheist and pacifist in support of war, enjoy paying taxes, disregard the Constitution, disregard anyone who would have the balls to defend someone else's rights (much less their own), don't own a weapon, have no interest in economics or politics of any kind, be willing to have sex with anyone, occasionally litter and don't recycle, have an older computer system with dial-up computer access, don't own a pet, and only watch official news sources like CNN and MSNBC.

Does this include styling before I come to look for my new Ukrainian mail order bride?

The recent DHS list did profile certain eco terrorists who might (partially,)  fit your profile.  There has been a push to curtail the activities and arrest Animal Liberation Front (ALF,)  terrorists, such has the ones who have burned down research facilities, McMansions, and car dealerships and released thousands of minks and killed thousands of chickens (prematurely.)   Although the emphasis on this DHS initiative might change with the Obama Administration.

Hey Madrigal!  Hair styling?  Yes, we have a Rastafarian specialist on call 24 hours a day!

I'm really just having fun here...and with everything that follows, below.

The above post was half-joking, half-serious...  The problem is that it is half-serious.  Normally, I wouldn't really care as I actually support the Patriot Act and by merely supporting that, and being a, um, Patriot - per this document could invite scrutiny for being a terrorist.

Even then, I would not normally care, because I think most people are pretty reasonable.   But then, there was that case in Texas where a TSA employee used a pair of pliers to pull out someone's titty-ring.  Just in case you think I'm nuts to think such a thing happened, here are two credible references:

http://cbs5.com/local/nipple.rings.flight.2.686288.html
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23830845/

No one stopped and said, "Dude, do you really think that someone is going to go so far as to get a breast enlargement using C-4 instead of silicone and cap it with a tittie-ring to blow up an airplane?"

Worse yet... More than three TSA employees were involved.  That puts a monkey wrench into the logic that even a majority of people are reasonable.  Maybe it's just a bad sampling, as of course we are talking about an entire agency filled with people who couldn't get jobs anywhere else.

On the other hand, we could use this as a poster case of just how ultra-efficient and on their toes the whole TSA security program is - because there haven't been any other major hijackings since 9/11.

Hmmm...now that I think about it, I always thought the best job in the world would be working for the ATF - sit around drink beer, smoke cigarettes and shoot people all day.  But this TSA thing sounds kind of fun!

You can bet these security professionals are still bragging about how they uncovered a left tit extremist plot.

Yeah I love the TSA and Racial Profiling, I just try to hop behind the most Muslim or Middle Eastern looking guy in line for security, its basically a mulligan that you will get through without a problem whilst they anally explore him simply for having a ratty beard and smelling of curry and garlic.

I did get stopped one time because I was speaking Russian to my girlfriend in line at JFK Airport, granted I guess I shouldn't have been on the phone waiting in line but it was a last minute change in plans.

The guy pulls me to the side and asked me "Is that Arabic?" I about died laughing and asked him if he got out much...I was shocked beyond belief that this guy thought any Slavic language sounded like Arabic, it was nuts.

To me that is like mistaking Chinese for Icelandic, at least good ole Barry O'Bama and the Wee Lil People of Capitol Hill are starting to make people dig Americans a bit more, IMO that is about all he has done or will do, he can go around the globe giving BAPS to presidents like Ch?vez and we will be all good cuz!

At the pinnacle of Bush's dynasty you would be shocked how many times I had to flash my blue book at border crossings and people would roll their eyes, say "Bush is an Asshole" (or worse) and sometimes call me an asshole just for being an American, I couldn't get a word in edge wise, Asia despised us, in Pataya Thailand it was "Hey American F*ck You" and then "$25 dowra I your girlfriend" Literally, Thailand is one of the most interesting places in the world to go and the best place if you are looking to get in trouble.

Thai police force makes Ukrainian cops look like saints handing out Mardis Gras Beads

I took a screen shot just to make sure that I have a copy of that picture should they take it down.

This deserves a little bit of analysis per that "simplest explanation" theory.

First explanation is that it is a simple mistake.  An extremely glaring one that got through all of the the ultra-professionals surrounding Mr. Brown.  So, if they didn't catch that big mistake, what else are they not catching?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Second explanation is ruled out because it's obviously not a typo.  There are no keys on the keyboard that print out complete full-colored swastikas.

Third explanation is that someone photoshopped it in.  That's really not the simplest explanation, as that would mean there was a conspiracy involved...and obviously there's no such thing.

Fourth explanation is that someone needed some artwork to conceal whatever was behind the swastika - and that piece of paper was the only thing available.

Fifth explanation is that they put it there on purpose.  That's a pretty simple explanation.  Oh, ho, ho - Gordon Brown a Fascist?  Hahaha.

There are no acceptable explanations to this one, indeed - if the first explanation is correct, then we probably DON'T want to know what other mistakes he's making...

I only spend time on it because I almost fell out of my chair laughing and nearly choking on my coffee when I saw this picture.

Oxymoron - There are no professionals in the UK cabinet.  Blears, Smith, Harperson, Balls, Miliband Bros are all well out of their league.  The only one capable is Lord "Vortamort" Mandleson....who is so unpopular nothing he can do is deemed right......even if it is right!  ::) ::)

If Gordon "No more Boom & Bust....British jobs for British People" Brown is actually a facscist........it will be the first f*cking principle of his that he has stuck to in 12 years of mismanagement!

Here is proof that Gordon Brown has been wallowing in Nazi iconography for at least a year:

http://iaindale.blogspot.com/2008/04/new-labour-macht-frei.html

My take is that he is more a victim of the zeitgeist of his generation, than a proponent of fascism.  Of course he does also like to flog the "New World Order," on a regular basis.  But, the fascist connotation in America doesn't seem to apply as much to UK politics.

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/City-Starts-Charging-Rent-at-Homeless-Shelters.html - I suppose charging people who stay in homeless shelters is fair, but this is precisely the kind of logic that is killing the United States.  As unemployment increases we need to increase taxes and find more creative taxes on the people who do work.   That sort of suppresses the economy...

Quite agree - and part of why I wouldn't invest in the pound.  It just amazes me that so many people put up with this - anywhere.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/US-posts-first-April-budget-rb-15222767.html?.v=4

Receipts for April, normally the year's biggest revenue month due to the April 15 deadline for federal income tax filing, fell to $266.23 billion from $403.75 billion in April 2008. Both individual and corporate income tax payments fell sharply from a year earlier.

But outlays set another April record, rising to $287.14 billion from $244.47 billion a year earlier.

<HR>
Income shrinks by 34% and spending increases by 17.4%...
So...obviously, as we start making less, we should spend even more!

Let's never question conventional wisdom... ;D

Millionaires Go Missing
Maryland's fleeced taxpayers fight back.
Wall Street Journal MAY 27, 2009

Maryland couldn't balance its budget last year, so the state tried to close the shortfall by fleecing the wealthy. Politicians in Annapolis created a millionaire tax bracket, raising the top marginal income-tax rate to 6.25%. And because cities such as Baltimore and Bethesda also impose income taxes, the state-local tax rate can go as high as 9.45%. Governor Martin O'Malley, a dedicated class warrior, declared that these richest 0.3% of filers were "willing and able to pay their fair share." The Baltimore Sun predicted the rich would "grin and bear it."

One year later, nobody's grinning. One-third of the millionaires have disappeared from Maryland tax rolls. In 2008 roughly 3,000 million-dollar income tax returns were filed by the end of April. This year there were 2,000, which the state comptroller's office concedes is a "substantial decline." On those missing returns, the government collects 6.25% of nothing. Instead of the state coffers gaining the extra $106 million the politicians predicted, millionaires paid $100 million less in taxes than they did last year -- even at higher rates.

I find this sickeningly funny in that New Jersey is one of those Blue "tax, borrow and spend" states.  The obvious solution is to increase taxes some more.  We need at least another 125 million people to be voting with their feet - take all of their money and move to poor countries, and help turn them into rich countries, with vibrant economies.  Let the borrow, tax and spend folk remain where they are - with no one making enough money to tax and no one willing to lend them a dime.   ;D  I just can't help it...

There are a lot of ways capital flees the U.S.  Lately I have noticed people buying stocks in China, considering China to be a bastion of stability and growth, disregarding their own issues with risk and transparency.  The people buying those stocks would never have touched a foreign equity of any kind, just two years ago. Now, this might be the backbone of their portfolio.
The WSJ article points out that most of these lost Millionaire returns were not taxpayers changing their residency or leaving, but rather just crisis related drops in income.  They don't have any real figures on changes in millionaire residencies.
It is a popular idea, (and obviously, especially so with expats,) that you can just go to some foreign country and teach the aboriginals how to get rich, and develop technology or a powerhouse of an economy.  You can help, but if they want it, they figure it out for themselves.  If they prefer to run their countries into the ground, then they seem to do that, regardless of whatever help might be available.
The flaw of capitalism is that as every country does get rich and increasingly productive, the world gradually drowns in goods, and it gets harder to stay innovative enough to have something to sell.  Americans have what, 1.23 cars per licensed driver?  But, we will save our economy by making more cars? Maybe we, everyone need to make something else and maybe the crisis will be resolved when we are making things people want more than extra cars.
